The Club operates as a special interest section of the British Airways Club and section members are required to be paid up members of that
The Members, their families, and guests (over 16), are able to enjoy organized ski and social activities and the Section is generally able to draw on a wealth of contacts throughout the world when organising ski trips.
Our principal activities are a 'Warm-Up Week' to start off the season in mid-December at Zell am See, and number of visits to various European
and World airline ski meetings. These meetings provide opportunities for better skiers to compete representing the Club, but also bring social
interaction with other skiers and airline staff from around the world, and some very entertaining aprés ski gatherings.
New members of any standard are most welcome, also snowboarders. Our aim is to provide superior ski instruction for all abilities, with enthusiasm to improve being the main criterion, rather than achieved proficiency. We use good hotels and obtain excellent value for money, all adding up to a quality ski & fun formula with extras - some challenging, some entertaining - that you could not find on a commercial package tour.
PROVIDING SKIING FOR BOTH THE ENTHUSIAST AND THE BEGINNER FOCUSED ON GOOD SKIING AND ENJOYMENT
Every effort is made to ensure that the information displayed is accurate. Travel arrangements should not be made solely on the basis of information given here.
The events on offer are as follows (underlined titles are links to booking forms or more info.). Places are offered on a first come first served basis.
Zell, Sat.11th - 18th December
The Committees intention is that if we have about 20 or more, then we can run 3 classes, as in recent years, together with slalom races on the Friday. If we are much less than 20, we will lose some economy of scale, and also if we could only run 2 classes, the spread of abilities would not be viable. The intention in that case would be to continue with the holiday without instruction on a free-skiing basis, and make sizeable refunds to everyone. We nearly all know the immediate area like the backs of our hands, so could still have a very genial friendly time back on skis after such a long break. A first stab at assessing the likely number at the social was very encouraging. We are expecting the booking price to remain the same as last time bearing in mind the substantial refund given.
And if Covid rears its ugly head again necessitating cancellation, note we are only reserving on the basis of owing nothing to the hotel. Those using staff travel would lose nothing there, and for those on Lufty, likewise, a refund should be forthcoming. We are pricing the holiday at the same as last time, as the £ has recovered a bit, and increases in Zell have been very modest.
SO - PLEASE COULD YOU LET PAUL KNOW RIGHT NOW YOUR INTENTIONS - E.G. DEFINITE YES or PROBABLY or DEFINITE NO.
Once we have a gauge of intent ( which we believe from the social will be positive ) we will send out a booking form and/or put it up on this website.
If you have any questions or need information regarding tours please do not hesitate to contact Paul J.Turner or a committee member who will do their utmost to assist you.
The members of the BA Ski Club have now acquired a standard ski outfit. The advantages of this are two fold :
1) We would look like a team when we compete at events such as those hosted by ASCA, NAASF and IASF.
2) We can get hold of some really good kit (Spyder) really cheap (compared to UK prices - see below).
